accumulated affliction (selected works)
About the series:
My work investigates meaningful connections between my various chronic ailments and the ways that I perceive their existence within my own body: they are exaggerated distortions—abstractions; they are of a visceral quality, oftentimes utilizing high-chroma and possess resilient figurative forms.
Some of my specimens are carefully sculpted and simulated skins that are evidence of a more tangible evocation, whereas others exude a delicateness that seeks to explore a sensitive and vulnerable side of the bodily experience. They are the arthritic pangs in my knees, elbows, and wrists as much as they are the corrosive rumblings and ulcerations of my gut—they are my afflictions and beg to assert their lingering presence.
